Acting on a distress call by the mining ship USG Ishimura, engineer Isaac Clarke is dispatched to diagnose and fix its problems. Soon upon arriving, Isaac finds that the crew have been slaughtered and the ship is now filled with terrifying creatures known as Necromorphs.

Faced with limited supplies and weapons, Isaac must survive the horrors of this sinister spaceship as he attempts to escape, and perhaps put an end to the necromorphs.

This game scared the hell out of me when I first played. It wasn't even what the monsters looked like but the fact that I couldn't tell where they were coming from. Be careful with this gem of survival-horror because you might end up with an anxiety condition afterward. Dead Space is well worth the potential heart attack. Play it and see if you can get through the first chapter without screaming.

Abandoned spaceship: Checked! Monsters: Checked! All members of the crew dead: Checked! Fear and Terror: Checked! If you like playing games at night, with your headphones on, then EA and Visceral Games have a “shiny” little dark game to play with your fears. Taking place on USG Ishimura the game follows the protagonist, Isaac Clarke, in finding out what happened on the spaceship. His wife is also missing, so he hopes to save his wife and also destroy what's really causing the dead bodies on the ship. Released in 2008, the game was a welcomed addition to a somewhat uninhabited horror scene. The game is a survival horror experience extending from 12 to 15 hours, in which you shoot monsters in the limbs(not the head) with futuristic guns. Can Isaac prevail and save his wife or darker secrets stand in his way? I won't tell you, but be sure to give it a try.

The space-addicts and the ones that dream about going in outer space and face all sorts of problems and hardships and in the midst of all such terrors, the ones that admire to come out as a hero. This game is no more a nightmare now. Its the best of the survivals out from the most horror genre, shown in the best dramatically pictured way. The best space-sci-war ever. Its the first and last thing in mind, when the gamer's imagination is generated within the minds of the players. It's hell out there players! Ultimate fun it is.

Dead Space was an excellent game in the sense of random jump scares, but its story was at times hard to follow and loose and fuzzy. its a "wake-me-up" game for game freaks everywhere.

Dead Space takes the survival horror genre to space in a way that you won't easily forget. It gave me chills and I screamed in some parts of the game. It's not a major innovation and gets repetetive soon but it's one hell of a trip that you must play.

The first game of three, and, in terms of depth, plot and creepiness, the best as well. The feeling of isolation aboard the USG Ishimura makes this not just another survival horror game, but a worthy contender to take the crown from Resident Evil and Alone in the Dark.

One of the best survival horror games that came out on the PC. Eerie atmosphere, the constant tension that quickly escalate into full-blown mental chaos when some necromorph that looks like it just came out from parallel worse nightmare dimension jumps out in front of you. Terrific shooting mechanic combined with the constant lack of ammo makes every shot count. And Isaac, that doesn’t say a single word through the whole game and just want to survive, which also quickly becomes yours first concern. All this things make this game one of the jewels of this genre and must play for every gamer that calls himself, well, a gamer.

So one day, my brother drops this game in my lap, says, "I know how you like Resident Evil, though you might like this." I thought to myself, "Looks like Bioshock in space.." Ten minutes into the game: Had anxiety attack. Dropped the controller. Got killed. Was hooked ever since...

Dead Space is the quintessential survival horror game of the last two generations. Between its claustrophobic corridors, sparse ammo, nerve wrecking sound design and frightening monster design, it's a must for every self-respecting gamer. And the mystery-filled story experienced through our silent protagonist, Isaac doesn't hurt either.

Horror is difficult to master. It's all been done before to the point of laughter. But Dead Space has the elements of a successful horror story. The Necromorphs are formidable opponents and will stress your nerves out. Isaac Clarke is a mysterious but intriguing protagonist to play as. This sci-fi terror introduces a universe with depth and quality. Keep your lights off for maximum experience.

No combination of horror and sci-fi is as good as this one. Marvelous and thrilling space adventure with blood running cold storyline will blow your mind. Awesome gameplay and graphical details, the space might appear horribly beautiful, yet scary as hell!!! This is one game a true gamer should never miss. Be careful though, if you have a weak heart ;)

Do you think you can’t be afraid of a video game? If you do, you surely haven’t played Dead Space. To tell the truth, I don’t even see a horror film more powerful than DS. Your girlfriend could even be scared if she passed in your back while you’re playing.

Grotesque and memorable body horror decorate a solid and sturdy shooter that succeeds on all fronts, from its simple upgrade system to its careful management of resources. In space, no one can hear you scream— and boy, will you be screaming.

Although I played it on my PS3 I also loved how they made this game run fine even on integrated Intel HD graphics. This was and is rare with AAA games. I loved the creepy atmosphere and the dismemberment of alien limbs, but also the sense that you're always running out of resources gave a terrified survival feel to the experience that less and less survival games manage to visualize on the big screen. I highly recommend this title!

The original Dead Space was EAs answer to resident evil 4 and 5 but set in space. Still it went further and kept that horror atmosphere that resident evil series had lost. It had a wide array of features such as the adjustable camera, creative weapons, jet packs and reversible gravity arias. The only bad thing with it is that that I hadn’t played it more.

Dead Space is one of best Survival Horror releases in years, the game has great atmosphere; it has a thrilling atmosphere even though it isn't so scary as I supposed it to be, but I've had a pretty good time with this game. Dead Space is really intense all the way to the end.

Survival horror revival. Dead Space drinks a lot from survival horror games like Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Alone in the Dark. However, the game is much better in this job, than the nowadays versions of, say, Resident Evil. It surpassed its creators. You get a very real feel of being alone in a spaceship with a bunch of ugly monsters. Do you remember the feel of not being able to play Resident Evil alone at night? Here you have all of it back...
