10. Far Cry 3

Most notably, Shadow of Mordor included a nemesis system, where some antagonistic “Uruks” that survive encounters with your character will become tracked by the game. Combatting with these captains will change the gameplay and lead to higher risks and rewards throughout the game, depending on how you deal with them.

Killing an Uruk that has been tracked by the game helps to debilitate Sauron’s army and provide players with more resources and upgrades.

7. Metro Exodus

Metro Exodus is yet to be released, with an estimated publication date of 22 February 2019. [MK1] The FPS game has survival-horror elements incorporated, as your character navigates a nuclear wasteland full of dangerous mutants and threatening NPCs. 

Metro Exodus is a continuation of the narrative established by the previous Metro game, Last Light. The game is supposed to have a fun crafting system that allows you to create and upgrade weapons as well as an environment that changes with a day and night cycle. This game should give Tomb Raider fans something to look forward to.

Metro Exodus is set in the recently destroyed Russian Federation with post-apocalyptic hazards around every corner.

5. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is also an upcoming game with a release date of 22 March 2019. [MK1] The third-person, action-adventure game is a revenge story of a ninja who was attacked by a samurai. Sekiro takes place in 16th-century Japan and has many influences of the ancient Asian culture throughout the story and gameplay.

The most interesting aspect of Sekiro that has fans eagerly awaiting its release is its combat system. Instead of tracking the damage to an opponent’s HP, the combat mechanics revolve around offsetting your opponent’s balance and poise to then strike a fatal blow. This innovative concept will hopefully make for a great game in early spring of next year.
