The Best Batman Arkham Game To Play
Are you a diehard Batman fan like me and looking for definitive Batman games to play? Do you want to be the Batman as he throws batarangs, soars through the skies with his bat grapple, and fights his archnemesis - the Joker? Here are just five of the best Batman Arkham games to play.
5. Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate (ok)
Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate -- Deluxe Edition Trailer
Your goal in Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is to retake control of Blackgate penitentiary during a prison riot in this sequel to Batman Arkham Origins. You use the free-flow combat system, Batman’s arsenal of weapons, stealth tactics, etc.
Here, you play as the Batman fighting a bunch of criminals in hand-to-hand combat.
I found this 2D game to be very underwhelming for some reason. The gameplay feels stale. It doesn’t seem to add anything dramatically new and refreshing to the Batman Arkham series.
It feels like an average “beat-em-up” game you’d play on a handheld device. This game is at the bottom of the list. Its good for playing in the bathroom or the waiting room before your doctor’s appointment.
4. Batman: Arkham Origins (good)
Batman: Arkham Origins takes place before the rise of Gotham’s most dangerous supervillains. The game showcases a young and unrefined Batman as he faces a defining moment in his early career as a crime fighter that sets his path to becoming the Dark Knight. You play as the Batman as you’re hunted by eight of the deadliest assassins from the DC Comics Universe. You will face for the first time many of the characters that shape your future.
Your goal is to save Gotham and survive eight of the deadliest assassins in this action-packed video game. You gain new gadgets and skills. You fight familiar characters but also new characters like Deathstroke.
Here, you can see the Batman interrogating a criminal.
The game is essentially the same as Batman: Arkham City with some tweaks. While the plot is interesting and intense at first glance, it doesn’t look as promising as the trailers make it seem. I’d expect Gotham to look more classic and the Batman to be more old school as he’s still in the process of becoming the Batman.
The game would be more interesting if the Batman had fewer gadgets than in the other Batman Arkham games and skills. I’d create more cops-and-robbers types of missions rather than being hunted by eight assassins if i were in charge. The official Arkham Origins plot feels more like a sequel than a prequel.
For these reasons, this game is decent but not great.
3. Batman: Arkham Knight (great)
The Batman faces the ultimate threat against the city he is sworn to protect, the Scarecrow. You’d think the Scarecrow would’ve given up after previous encounters. Little did we know he was scheming this whole time. He plans to unite the supercriminals of Gotham and destroy the Batman forever.
I found the introduction of the Batmobile as a usable vehicle to be the most exciting aspect of the game. Imagine being able to fire rockets, overspeed without the cops being willing and able to catch you, as well as seeing dramatic explosions happen in slow-motion.
I also found the Scarecrow threatening Gotham to be heart-stopping. If the Scarecrow unleashes his fear gas on the city, imagine the damage he could do!
Here, you see the Batman throw one of his gadgets to hinder the enemy’s progress!
Overall, this is a great game, especially since its the last game of the Batman Arkham series.
2. Batman Arkham Asylum (excellent)
Batman: Arkham Asylum Launch Trailer
All hell breaks loose when the Joker takes over Arkham Asylum and forces you, the Batman, to retake control of the Asylum. Easier said than done as the Joker can send all the villains he wants to send, deny you access to specific rooms, and who knows what else. The Joker becomes more dangerous than ever so its all the more reason to stop his madness!
Batman Arkham Asylum is one of the best Batman games ever. It has a unique plot where the Joker dominates the Asylum and has you feeling like a lab rat in his twisted games. This feels much different from normal plots where the Batman and the Joker fight freely in Gotham City outside of Arkham.
The Scarecrow levels where you fight skeletons were some of the scariest, most intense levels of the game!
I found my heart racing as i slowly lost sight of what was real and fake. Sometimes, i found myself rushing to hiding spots just to save myself the misery of dreading the Scarecrow crushing me with his hand!
This game really makes you feel like the Batman almost as if you were in a movie with the camerawork, fights, characters, list goes on! Here, you can see the strength of the Batman in action as he lifts up a fiendish creature up before slamming him to the ground! There are loads of twisted creatures from lab tests that were once human, i don’t even know what to call them anymore.
In summary, I highly suggest you play this game if you want to feel like the world’s greatest detective solving cases and fighting crime with your skills!
1. Batman: Arkham City (the best)
Batman: Arkham City picks up where the last game left off with Hugo Strange taking control of Gotham. He unleashes waves of criminals out in the city and establishes “Arkham City.” Answer the call for justice as the Dark Knight while you lurk in the shadows or glide through the sky with your cowl.
The best game out of all the other games is Batman: Arkham City. The missions are harder than the first Batman Arkham Asylum game especially since it takes place in an open-world environment. The game is somewhat scarier too. In Arkham Asylum, it was much easier to spot enemies as villains sealed off the doors in Arkham to trap you.
In Batman: Arkham City, you could be flying high traveling to complete a mission when a sniper spots you and begins firing at you from a building rooftop. You also have to play as Catwoman and master her if you want to survive.
Here, you use a door that you broke off as an improvised weapon to drive it into the chest of a thug on the streets of Gotham!
Gosh! The Batman’s tactics are brutal although he swears not to kill criminals. He had no problem breaking this guy’s bones and causing serious internal bleeding from the thunderous impact of that blow!
Another savage move the Batman executes as he bashes two goon’s heads together to knock them both out!
The game’s soundtrack is much better than Arkham Asylum. It was catchy, exciting, and got you energized, fully ready to break someone’s skull as the Batman!
Like i said, this is the best Arkham Game of the whole series in my opinion. I highly suggest you play it especially if you want to fight in Gotham city.
