XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a remake of the classic 1994 hit game UFO: Enemy Unknown which is widely regarded as one of the best games ever made. It expands on that legacy with an entirely new invasion story, with more enemies and technologies to defend Earth. In XCOM: Enemy Unknown, you are the commander of XCOM, the most elite paramilitary organization in the world dedicated to stopping the alien invasion. Your soldiers are fighting an uphill battle as the aliens use superior armor, technology, and weapons.

In this remake of the classic franchise, players will execute their strategies from the XCOM base by researching new weapons, armor, and ships, building new facilities, manufacturing new aircraft and weapons, and directing their agents on combat missions. New soldiers start from the rank of Squaddie and can level up through 7 ranks to Colonel. Each soldier can specialize in a specific combat style be it Assault, Heavy, Sniper or Support. Every decision is important, and sometimes a single simple choice can be the difference between victory or defeat. With the doom clock ticking, will you be able to push back the aliens and save humanity from annihilation?

Since the success of the first two installments in the X-Com saga back in the '90s, we had to wait almost 20 years to play a game that we can finally consider a proper sequel to Microprose's 1993 masterpiece. X-Com is a great squad-tactics game, full of interesting novelties that will appeal even players new to this genre thanks to its intuitive gameplay and fast and fun battles. X-Com manages to perform well both on the strategic department (the globe overview), and on the tactical one (battleground missions), staying true to his original "hybrid" nature. Sprinkle it with that nice retro touch that everyone loves, and you got one of the best games of the last couple of years.

as a turn based strategy,it would not be easy for xcom to become what it is now if it was not "Amazing".the thingsthat it so amazing are : one wrong move could mean 1 or even all of your team's permadeath but it's possible for one move to turn the fate of a hopeless mission and make it a success in the end.But i think classes gives player the most satisfaction in this game .Because being able to create a sniper "ninja" squad or a balanced squad is what makes commanding a squad fun. If you like turn based strategys even a little you're gonna love xcom

XCOM is about as engrossing as games can get. The small-scale, squad-based skirmishes are tight and tense, devious puzzles in which one wrong move, one miscalculated command, one missed shot, can result in the permanent death of a key member of your team. Very few games care about the decisions you make, but in XCOM everything you do, whether it's researching a specific technology, or rushing a soldier across a killzone so that he can help a pinned down ally, matters. It's a refreshing, scary concept. XCOM is brilliant.

Can a remake ever hope to come close to the original? The new XCOM answers the question with a stylish and polished YES. This game is addictive, fun, and unforgiving, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Refreshingly tense and challenging, Firaxis presents us with one of their best games in years that both celebrates their past and makes steps into the future. Smooth mechanics create player choices that have strategic weight, meaning that what YOU do matters. But stay away from the Thin Men. Trust me.

Punishing, if that's a word that peaks your interest this title is for you and I mean that in the best way possible. Your team will live or die by your actions so you need to get the best use out of your soldiers for as long as you can. Failure to do so could result in the loss of all their lives. Story is subpar and the multiplayer is broken but the gameplay experience of the campaign is worth getting if you can do so during a sale.

One of my favorite games of all time is XCOM. Since 1994 to the present day XCOM: Enemy Unknown, it has been a great ride. The storyline has you take control as the commander of a secret organization to defend earth against alien invasion. Not lacking for excitement in this fast-paced nail-biting thriller you must use every power you have at your disposal to beat back the invasion. With soldier customization, funding, base-building, and political power-plays, the game will have you wanting more.

Xcom enemy unknown is an awesome turn base strategy game that makes putting together tactical depth and simplicity look easy. Many faults you personally may find with the game can be edited since the slingshot DLC. And if its expansion enemy within makes it better you should try the Long War mod which makes it my favorite game of all times.
