The world of Lordran is dying. After a curse has caused light to fade, and undead to rise, there seems little hope for the survival of this land. Even the Lord of Sunlight Gwyn has left, and the world has all but been abandoned. But this is all to change. You, the Chosen Undead, must ring the two Bells of Awakening and prove your worth as the successor to Lord Gwyn. Facing seemingly insurmountable challenges, you must fight to bring back light to the world - or plunge with it into darkness eternally.

In this cult classic RPG, players enter the meticulously crafted world of Lordran, where dark and hostile beings threaten to destroy you at every turn. Through skill, awareness and sheer determination, you must prove your worth, reverse the odds and find your destiny.

This game kicked me in the teeth for the first hour or so and I almost gave up. But, timorously, I fought on. And it was worth it! This lore rich RPG doesn't hand it to you on a silver platter: for every detail pertaining to the story, every hidden location, every victory over a boss, every achievement... you will die... a lot. Over and over. Until you get it just right. Feelings of frustration and exhilaration felt in the same half minute. Easily the best there is when it comes to RPGs!

Might be tough at first, but once you get the clues everything starts going with ease

There is an absolute plethora of things that can be said about Dark souls. From it's gritty, murky design, to it's intricate and weaving pathways, it's hidden plot and it's incredible gameplay. If you are or ever have been an avid gamer, you NEED to play this game. Dark souls set the bar for many games when it was first released, spawning many rip offs, clones and imitations. However, nothing will ever compare to the true majesty of the original, and in my opinion, it is without a doubt one of, if not the most enjoyable, challenging and rewarding game that I have had the pleasure of playing for many years. Now ofcourse, the key, driving aspect of the game is its combat and exploration. From the minute you set out from your cell in the assylum, the atmospher weighing heavily, the grotesqueness of the monsters and indeed yourself adding to the dark, depressing aesthetic, and then being thrust into a battle that you are entirely unprepared for, with the assylum demon. Everyone who has played this game remembers the first time they faced this goliath. It was shocking. It was debilitating. And it was magnificent. Being plunged into such a challenge has become all but extinct, with autosaves, quick saves, and being walked through games for so long, having to figure out what to do, how to do it, and where you need to be has been a true breath of fresh air. I cannot begin to extol the virtues of playing this wonderful game, and if you haven't played it yet, I would urge you to do so. It is easily one of the best games in recent memory.

Dark Souls by far is the most significant wake up call to games since 2000 till date that aside from amazing graphics, Difficulty that actually tests your patience, skill and gamers pride is very important. The story gives you the task of being "the chosen undead" whos role is to extinguish the fires that plaques Lordran. The game has no linear stages mechanics rather it gives you the freedom to take on various areas in the game early on, one can follow the story of the game via the ingame item descriptions of various collectibles you acquire throughout the game. What the game offers to the players more is Glory/Satisfying wins against obstacles and enemies not to mention the bossfights. A feeling only followers of the "Souls" series has experienced A very mature and dark atmosphere, very challenging gameplay and mindblowing story. Finish the game once and be part of the cult classic that is Dark Souls

Dark Souls is the best game of its generation. If there was nothing more to it than its excellent melee combat, we'd still love and remember it. The story of Lordran, and, perhaps as importantly, the way in which it is told, is just beautiful: in most games the story is something that just happens, as you go about doing whatever it is the game wants you to do. In Dark Souls, piecing together what's happening, and why, is an active, game-like process; as you correlate this snippet of dialogue with this item description, the world comes into focus--although never perfectly. The game rewards the player who pays attention. In short, like all the greatest games, Dark Souls respects the player. It is an absolute classic.

Dark Souls might be considered the most successful experiment in recent gaming history. While only providing small hints about what is going on, the game's difficulty pushes the player into such an extreme emotional state that each event becomes amazing. Among other things, this fact makes it an indescribable experience.

Dark Souls is a hardcore experience. You will fail, over and over, until you finally stand victorious, covered in blood and tears. This is a game that invokes so many feelings, from frustration and disbelief to joy and relief. Prepare for a true challenge. Prepare to die.

Prepare to die, indeed. This game will make you begging for 'coup de grace' in the first couple of hours you start playing. The graphics and gameplay are top-notch, but the difficulty is over the top. This game can be best described as "Game of Thrones" among the games.
