For me its:
Baldur's gate 2
Dragon Age: Origins
Diablo 2
What is the best PC game you've played?
For me its:
Baldur's gate 2
Dragon Age: Origins
Diablo 2
For me its:
Assassin's Creed 2
Diablo 2
Dragon Age Origin
The Sims 4
I would have to say that the best PC game I have ever played would be Left 4 Dead. The expert campaigns were so intense for their time and even though there were no skills or anything, the small variety of weapons and the terrifying lineup of special zombies made for a memorable experience. I haven't even touched Left 4 Dead 2 afraid that it would tarnish my good memories of the first.

First time i played Left 4 Dead was 5 years back. Had some really fun times with buddies. Definitely one of the best thrilling coop games ever.
For me its:
Assassin's Creed 2
Diablo 2
Dragon Age Origin
The Sims 4
Dragon age origins was a really good game. It was kind of similar to baldur's gate and i can still remember playing my Warrior tank. But it was a little easy because he could tank almost anything. The final battle was awesome with all your allies fighting by your side.
Good memories.
The legend of Dragoon. Reasons:
-Game is made for Playstation 1, and has one of the most authentic stories ever, developing around every character and evolving into a hearthbreaking culmination.
-It has 4 discs, and it was very, VERY HARD to beat.
-Diverse game, with a lot of side quests and leveling of characters
-Strategic game
-Perfect theme song, AMAZING INTRO graphics for the time it was made (the 90s).
The 2nd best game ever would Be Digimon 2, also for playstation 1.
The 3rd place would go to several games: Arma3 (PC), Spartacus Legends (Xbox), Jade Cocoon Master (PS1), God of War franchise (PS), Assassin Creed franchise(PC), and Hearthstone (PC, IOS, Android).
Diablo 2 is like a mother's milk of RPG gamers. One who hasn't played it can be considered malformed. Also, Warcraft 3 and the Frozen Throne expansion pack. (I was a Blizzard child)
But the game that has taken me over for good was Batman: Arkham City. It has everything that a perfect comic book story and a perfect movie should have packed into a perfect game. I've seen a couple of dawns playing it.
The only similar experience I've had with TES V: Skyrim.
Difficult to choose one. I grew up playing Duke Nukem 3D, Redneck Rampage, Road Rash 3D, Carmagedon, and the orginal Grand Theft Auto (overhead pixel view). Obviously gaming on computers has advanced in all areas to the point that when something new comes out, graphically they all have a rich sense of scenery and substance that draws the player in to their worlds.
My recent game crush would be Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, it keeps me in the game, and continues to add content that I want to dive right into. Gameplay wise it combines a refined Batman: Arkham City style and Assasin's Creed gameplay with a new tale from the Lord of the Rings world.
My favorite of all time, mostly due to how long I have played it, would be World of Warcraft. Blizzard continues to elevate the direction this game is going, and build on the world they created over 10 years ago. If you are itching for an MMO, start with the best out there, and see what all the fuss is about. Other notables in this style include: RIFT, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and Elder Scrolls Online.
For stand-alone PC games, Left 4 Dead 2 is an addiction I cannot put down. Its the measuring stick of zombie killing craze that any post-apocalyptic genre fan is looking for.
Shadows of Mordor is awesome!
Shadows of Mordor is awesome!
True. Still have it installed :)
For me I think I have to go with Battlefront 2, I recently bought it on Steam and it's still a brilliantly fun gaming experience. I do also thoroughly enjoy a bit of Mount and Blade: Napoleonic Wars though I have new to the game.
Am new. Not have new. What terribly embaressing english.
Well, I may not be the oldest among the bunch of gamers I know, but I'm a sucker for old school RPGs (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale and the likes). So I was somewhat disappointed when I noticed that Planescape: Torment, my most favourite game of all time, had been left out of your "Favourite Games" list :'(
I'm going to put in a plug for the RTS genre. I love the endless strategy options, and almost endless ways to play through a game. As for my favorite, I always come back to the Dune series. Not only did it lay the foundation for the genre, but it has movies and books that expand the lore and let me get my geek on ouyside of the game.
I agree WoW was and still is a great experience. My favorite was and will be DAOC. Dark Age of Camelot. I played it with half Italy. A new world, full of friends (real and / or fictionary), quests, exps, imps... lol too much. Just too much!!

Dune! Command and Conquer! King's Quest! Larry!! I opened a Pandora's vase, I guess...
No kidding! I've spent many an hour over the last 25 years playing games, and the bulk goes to one RTS or another.

Do you remember World in Conflict? I simply loved it. I still have the Collector's Edition somewhere. Was a great game... and a great CE. A piece of the Berlin Wall included.
Well said, Smit. And to think of all the incredible games that utilize the same dev-kit; it would seem it provides the perfect tools for creating the puzzling atmosphere that you explained.
Yes, I'm that guy....
Half-life 2 is the first game that comes to mind. It immediately defined an entire generation of PC games. I love the way Valve tells a story without holding your hand and I love they way they get you to solve puzzles with only one solution while still feeling like you created the solution on your own.
I played Baldur's Gate when I was about 17 and never could get it to work past the first town I came to - PC used to just die.
Worth a playthrough still or should I go straight to Dragon Age?
For me, the only game I've been able to play on PC is Skyrim. I have fun with the mods.
The Sims 2: Double Deluxe! If you haven't played it, you have yet to live. It's 10x better than 3 or 4 will ever be!
Honorable mentions- Fallout: New Vegas and Age of Empires.
So many hours spent running through Diablo 2 with my brother and cousin, man some amazing memories.
And while Batman Arkham City was such a great balance of DC goodness and epic fights, I had a harder time getting pulled in because of how the combat was. Which is probably my own fault based on how I was playing, but nothing stands out in my mind like Skyrim! It was like being transported into another reality everytime I jumped into that game, solid Ace.
It's not strictly just a PC game, but Magic: The Gathering is hands down the best game I've ever played. Since it finally got a the modern video game look in 2017, I haven't actually stopped playing. That means for the past 3 years I've played upt to 4 wins a day if I can or 15 wins a week at the very least.
The Witcher 3 really got me hooked, but I can't say it's the BEST since there are lots of them that contend for the same spot and I love them all equally. Games like Dark Souls 3, Skyrim, The Forest, ARK Survival, and of course, Elden Ring.
Call it ironic, but I enjoy Super Mario and Pokémon.
The Sims 4 has got to be my favourite! Although, admittedly, I have played little else on PC.
